WARNING: OLD ART!! The art and comments in this Deviation may no longer represent the artist's current views or interests.

Homework for LASALLE College of the Arts: Students are required to create at least one maquette of the characters from our animations, to help us draw them from different angles. While I prefer working with Super Sculpey than ZBrush, I am not at all happy with my final statuettes which is why I haven't uploaded them until now.

Modeled with super sculpey over a wire skeleton, reinforced with superglue and padded with aluminum foil. Spray-painted neutral grey after baking.

I agree it's a bit awkward but not bad for first try. ;)

wow. I think it looks good even though it was a first attempt.
I thought about trying one myself for some characters I have but, I know they would be in no way awesome like this.

As for the animation, it's a shame it is unfinished. I rather enjoyed the short bit you had done. I really must compliment you on the morph transition when Oded did when he picked up the feather artifact.

Blew my mind.

I'm not so fond of the animation because the story was rushed last minute, hence the transformation, which I'm not actually fond of. I'm happy if others are impressed, though. =P

I know what you mean on how you may not be happy with it.
I have many pieces I am not happy or fond of, even though others are like "so cool!" Lol.

Good luck on your next bit of work. I look forward to seeing more of your stuff!

You inspire me to become a better artist.

For your first attempt I think it looks OK. I'm currently making MY first maquette and.... well I don't think it's going to turn out looking as good as this =/

Have you done maquettes for 'Honour Amongst Thieves'?

I hate the snout. It was a bad idea to partially cover it with one arm, made it impossible to sculpt in the details.

ODED!! Almost forgot all about him! That's a pleasant surprise. The folds in the cloth indeed look really nice and the texturing of the fur is a very nice touch as well. I say not bad for a first try! Not bad at all!

tbh compare this one with the one you've made now in James and there is a distinct improvement. I don't think you're too far off with that one. Just keep at it and I don't think it'll take you too long to make something you are proud of. :)

This still looks really good for a first attempt. You planning on redoing any of these later On?
