I had planned one called New Cairo, linked in the comments. As with most of my original stuff it dried up due to lack of plot, characters, and general world.

He looks great! His beak even glistens. :D I like his staff...weapon...thingy. Actually, he looks like he could blend in well with the characters from Tutenstein.

And who doesn't like raptors? Falcons, hawks, eagles...they're all just plain cool.

Out of curiosity, will it be a low poly or high poly model?
If it's high poly you can always detail your brains out in Zbrush and you can get everything awesomely smooth as well.
Low poly on the other hand is harsh on them details ;-;

We don't use ZBrush, only Maya in first year.

Urgh then I understand your frustrations with smooth surfaces indeed. =\
Good luck with the project though, I'm sure you'll do fine either way!

Very nice design I think. Remind me of stargate a little (How could it not with such strong Egyptian stylings), but is definately a different design and not a copy or nock off.

I like it, though being a 3d guy, I think you and :icongellyh: are full of it! For me 3d is much better (less drawing). I am interested to see you model it in 3d. Will you show WIPs? I know I would like to see them.

I doubt I'll show WIPs and I'm not even confident I'll be able to render it, or manage to do it any justice if I do somehow manage to. I didn't upload last semester's project, either.

WOW! talk about a vote of "no confidence" I wish I could offer some help, but I know nothing about Maya. My program of choice is 3DSmax for 3d.

I don't have time for an outside project(outside of my own homework) right now, but would you mind if I take a stab at it in the future?

Ok, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I learned in the one semester I studied Egyptology, I think a robot that simply looks pretty is exactly what the Egyptians would have liked.
I mean we're talking about the Egyptians! The pharaoh was more or less a god walking the earth, they weren't exactly humble when it comes to showing off their own fame and glory. So imagine a palace guard which is only there to look good. They would have loved it! Using their power to afford such pomp was a hobby of the pharaos, I guess. (well, not all of them perhaps, but most of them liked to show what a pharao could do. Only think of the pyramid or the Sphinx!)
And by the way, I love the concept and I think the result looks awesome!

So looking pretty has suddenly become a proper function now, huh? Awesome. Those fools over there, puh.

Anyway. Like I already said... REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU MAY THINK YOURSELF, I think it's purrrrdyyyy :iconjizzclopinplz: And screw 3D. It's overrated.

I think he looks better 2D. As do most characters, Disney!

Hear, hear!

That said, glad to hear you and your professor were able to come to an understanding. The final product looks supercool.
