This time, she managed to cover Karcen’s ears before Laz’ab’s outburst, scowling over her son’s head.
“Stop. Why are you even here?”
“I came to kill you for running away with all those little secrets of yours,” Laz’ab mused, casting his glance down at the boy with a frown. “I think I may have changed my mind though.” Caspira lifted her hands away from her son’s ears and dropped her fingers to the vibroblade still at her side. Red eyes tracked her every move and Laz’ab let out a sharp snort. “I have changed my mind you know.” Something in his voice shifted. “Can’t send a boy orphaned and out into the world.”
